It's gonna be another wet day.....Track should be fast if it ain't rutted up too bad..... "Race report at 11:00..."

Well I was wrong about the track being rutted up...It was smooth as glass and got pretty quick before the day was over....I think Devin went a 12.6 during the win in heavy....No rain, so we got all the races in....Devin qualified 6th in Animal lite and set outside pole in heavy.....Ended up finishing 3rd in lite and won heavy by 1/4 track.

Great day considering it started with Devin on his lid....

First I want to thank Rodney and crew for doing an outstanding job of preparing the track so we could race today....It's not every track owner that would break out the motor grader to take 3 inches of mud off the track to get in just one race....It was super fast too....Devin set pole in Animal Heavy with a 12.25....Too bad the rain came right after Animal lite took the track for their feature race....Nothing could be done after that.

Somebody got a killer pic of Devin flipping his kart on the first lap of the day....Those tires had more bite than any we have ever ran...Devin and kart were fine, minus the chain that came off, he just rolled it back on, I re-cranked the kart and he was fastest kart on the track for first round of practice....On a typical Dawgwood early wet track U have to pitch the kart in turn 3 to scrub some speed or hit the fence coming out of turn 4....Well when he made that move the tires had so much bite the kart caught and just flipped right over.

We learned a thing or two today, figured out what to do to get bite when the track is wet...I think we will end up leading points in Animal Heavy and our team mate is leading in Animal Super Heavy...Looking forward to the Jan. 21st winter points race...See Ya'll there.

2nd Winter points race at Dawgwood....

The day started with the carb puking alky....Put a new needle in it and it was still doing it....Had to put a new float in it and that fixed that problem....Qualifying was just as bad....Last in lite and only 4th in heavy....The lite race started with a bang and not the good kind....Bang went the kart when 2 karts spun in front of Devin and he couldn't miss them....Bent the caster block and stripped the bolt out of the bottom....No one had an extra at the track so Devin took the hammer to it and straightened it back out and put a longer bolt in the stripped out hole....It held together and he drove it to a 2nd place finish in heavy....That puts him in 2nd for points in heavy....Man what a day....I got to say I was quite proud of the way Devin handled himself today...Even with all the problems, he kept a cool head and just did what it took to race.

It was hot as hell....Best we did all day was qualifying 12th out of 35 in Animal Heavy.....He drove from starting 25th in the Maxxdaddy race up to 16th in 8 laps all to be put back to 21st after a caution....? The scoring at this race lacked a little to be desired considering it was scored with transponders....There is more to this story but I'm gonna see if our video backs it up or not before I open up that can of worms on the internet.

I would like to presonaly think Patti for going out of her way to help us...Classy move on her part and we will not forget it.

The building is on (3) 4X4 skids....It's 12'-3" wide 16'-3" long and 13'-4" tall....That was too big for everyone I called except Alan with Buildings Moved (770)507-3509 it was no problem for him. Give him or Shannon a call if you have a storage building that needs moved....They move all sizes but specialize it large buildings.

It needed to be moved less than a mile.....See video route below.

I checked all the powerlines and as long as the trailer it's moved on is under 33" high it will clear all powerlines, even if the trailer is taller it's just single house phone lines that are too low. They could be lifted up easily....It went under all the powerline just fine although Alan did put a line lifting board on top just in case.

The day started off slow for us, in practice that is....We kicked it up and qualifyed on the pole for Animal 340 with a total of 16 karts. Animal 375 went ok and we qualifyed 8th out of 26 just .136 off the pole.

Ran 2nd in the Animal 340 race for all but the last 3 or 4 laps of the race, kart was just alittle too loose and when we got passed for 2nd the rest of the karts followed, ended up finishing 9th.

Devin drove a smart race in Animal 375 and ended up finishing 4th.

Went up to Dawgwood today for thier summer season opener....Qualified 3rd in Animal 340 and 4th in Animal heavy.....Ended up winning lite and I think we set fast lap of the day with a 12.265

8 karts in lite and 13 in heavy

Had a killer start in heavy jumping to 2nd by the time he got to the flagstand, but somebody in the back spun after the leaders went across the start/finish line to complete the first lap so they had to do it all over again....On the second restart there was another spin so they started the race single file and he had the lead by the half way point and held it till about 5 to go....The tires just didn't hold up long enough and he finished 2nd...Maybe the best 1--2 finish we have ever had.....Rodney (track owner) even asked...."Who is doing your tires....?" Well Travis York cuts them and Devin himself does the prepping....Hell all I do is set the stagger....The kid really knows his stuff at Dawgwood...Not a bad showing, since it was last Sept. 2010 when we last hit the track.....Pics and videos below.

3rd in lite. 5th in heavy raced and qualified the same set of tires all night long. They just didn't hold up for the heavy race. Kart was fast all night long

Pretty good in qualifying 2nd lite.... 4th in heavy...

Above was posted at the track on my iphone as was the qualifying sheet pics....I will do more of this when we race from now on....Now for the rest of the story...I have been nursing a hurt back for about 2 months....Seems it really kicked back up after the Aug $4000 to win race....We bent the Firehawk that night after qualifying 7th out of a field of 47 Most of the big dogs were there. Devin was running in the top 10 when the caution came out...Devin checked up but the kart behind him didn't and it bent the LR frame rail up about 3/4"....Got a new rail and Devin went to the track with the help of a friend and finished 6th in both lite and heavy out of 18....Not bad for a kid that does his own tires...

This was the first trip back to the track for me since Aug. and we had to have help with teh kart again....Thanx Taylor couldn't have done it without U....It was really strange for me to be there but be on the grid with the kart....Most nervous I have been in years....? Everything turned out good and the kart was on a rail from the get-go...Most of the time that's not such a good thing being fast right out of the trailer but it worked out this time....We only made a slight change in cross and that was before even hitting the track...Ran the same gear all night and only took off weight for lite....If it wasn't for the bump in 2 I think he could have won lite....The tires just gave up in heavy....We asked too much from them.

Had another killer quailfying run for the BIG ONE....

It rained and it thru us off for quailfying for animal 375....With 44 karts trying to qualify for 24 spots we were lucky enough to make the show in 24th....With alittle help from a good friend we made a tire change and turned it on for Pro....Quailfyied 7th out of 47 karts...Out qualifyed all but one of the big dagws that came from out-of-town for this huge money race. Ran well in both mains but thru the chain in the pro race running about 10th or so....I think we had a top 10 kart easy....Might have even caught a break and made it into the top 5....The top 3 were all Firehawks...Bradley won it. Here is the quailfying sheet and some pics from the race.

Just got through rebuilding our Bully....

It was hitting alittle soft for the July 4th race so I decided to go into it....We have ran this one for almost 2 years and it still has the original floater and friction disc in it....Just took it apart and sanded on the disc some after putting it back together I only had to take out 1 spacer....Damn what a clutch....They build the best clutch on the market...Lets see how it hits for next weekends race....?

I hear ALL the big dawgs are coming to Dawgwood Speedway this weekend looking for their share of the BIG MONEY Rodney is paying out....Check out the payout for Animal 380 below....

Dawgwood on the 4th of July....

We made our way up to Dawgwood Speedway for the Maxxis Meltdown $2000 to win Animal 360 race on July the 4th....Competition is always tuff at Dawgwood but this race brought out some big dawgs from states away...Had the best qualifying run in a big money race ever....7th out of 29 and only .17 of a second off the pole...Damn good effort....The feature started out really well too...Got a good start and jumped to 3rd but the caution came out and we had to go single file....On the restart he jumped to 4th in about a lap or two and held his ground for 10 or 15 laps...Then he got just alittle loose and 2 karts got by him....He ran 6th a few more laps and then got a bump from behind and around he went....That was it for our run at 2 grand but atleast we were fast.

Looking forward to the next big money race on the 31st....It pays $4000 to win....We need a sponsor in order to run that one.

Here is the video for the animal 340 race...Ended up finishing 5th....Had a better kart than that...Turned a 11.83 fast time.

Full report with videos in a day or two....Short version quilifyed outside pole in animal lite 5th in animal heavy.... 15 karts in each class. Tires wouldn't fire and he fell back on both starts....Ended up finishing 4th in both lite and heavy....Had 2nd fastest lap in lite and 3rd fastest in heavy....Kart was too touchie....Tires are real close and that's pretty damn good considering the prep we run is all our own....U can't buy it or the stuff it's made of in any kart shop or paint/hardware store anywhere....It works well for a dry slick track and no it ain't for sale so don't even ask.....LOL

It was fast this weekend at Dawgwood.....First time off the track Devin said he could tell the difference from the 08. Track was wet-wet-wet we tried to get away from the nasty prep in Animal lite.....Didn't work out well at all, kart would not stick. Put the old nasty set back on and finished 3rd in Animal heavy.

Devin just won Nascar tickets at Andretti Indoor Karting....Atlanta Motor Speedway held the race....His fast lap was 4 tenths better than the second place guy. We got pit passes and tickets for all 3 races.

This is the chassis that was raffled off at the Alabama Trade show about a month ago....One of our good friends Mike Wells won it and they ride Ultramax, so they were not gonna ride it. Found out they they had it sold when we saw them at the Big Show, but the guy didn't show up with the cash. Mike made Devin a price he just couldn't turn down. It's the first new chassis for us since 2008....It's not flat black like all the rest of our new ones....It's a special edition Bradley does....After all the pieces are cut, bent and coped out he polishes them before welding it up...Then it's powder coated clear. Hope it's as fast as it looks.

What a difference the right tires make....

Went up to Dawgwood today to run there 2nd winter points race... The track was the smoothest I have ever seen....It started out slick and wet, Devin qualified 3rd in both animal heavy and animal lite...We ran the animal heavy feature 1st and I made the wrong call on tires....Thomas took off and Devin stayed right with him for 3 or 4 laps and then the tires just gave up...He ended up 4th.....Made a tire change and the kart came to life in animal lite....He got shuffled to the rear on the start and made his way to the front in about 5 or 6 laps...Ended up winning by a margin of 4 1/2 seconds over 2nd place.

8 Foot Gandy pool table...Slate top good felt....Have balls and cues to go with it.....We are looking for a 2 or 3 man hot tub in good working condition.....Must respond with pics. Hot tub must be up and running to prove it works. These are the only pics I have of the pool table but I can get some more....Kart body and helment doesn't come with the table...LOL

We could have almost seen the track from the condo we stayed at in 2006 & 2007. WKA didn't have a Daytona dirt race last year and this year they are at the new dirt track built right outside turn 1 & 2. We elected to run Thunder instead of Daytona....I think next year we need to video Thunder and run Daytona....LOL

Devin qualifyed 14th out of 26 karts in Animal med..... The kart pushed bad and just wouldn't turn. Bradley set pole and was a 1/2 second faster. We made a cross change and the kart got better for the feature, he moved up as far as 8th in 4 laps....The kart was fast after we changed cross, then he spun in 1 & 2 having to check up to keep from pile driving another kart.

It will be the first time we have ran Thunder since Devin was still running Gold plate...That has to be atleast 4 or 5 years ago.....We slept on the floor of the trailer and about froze our asses off.....It was cold....But we made the main. Our racing efforts have came a long way since then but making a main at Thunder is always tuff. I expect upwards of 200 entries for the 10,000 to Win Wayne Poole Memorial Race. There should be full fields in all the classes for all three days of racing. We will be running Animal Med on Friday and Animal Heavy & the 10,000 to Win race on Saturday, both of those races will be at 375 pounds. With Devin tipping the scales at about 165 that puts the kart at about 210....That will be fun to lift up and down all day and night. I should have plenty of pics and a track side report up after the races are over.

Below is our first trailer....Built from just the frame and axle....The black and white checkered tile didn't last in the sun....LOL It popped right off.

Here is the inside of our trailer we have now....I got a piece of diamond plate and made the tire rack and front shelf....Both have worked out great....The end of the tire rack towards the front shelf have bolts for all our rear gears.

Devin had another great run up at Dawgwood....Ran 3rd in Animal med against some tuff local compention on a points night....Dawgwood has been drawing between 150-200 karts on points nights....U better be on your game if U are gonna run up there with them boys. dwevin turned the 2nd fastest lap of the night in med...Faster than both the karts that finished in front of him...Both of those karts finished in the top 3 in points this year. see mylaps and Dawgwood results below.

Headed to Dawgwood for a money race....

Saturday started off well....Got the kart back on the scales after Devin had it all back together and the numbers were dead on....We didn't move any lead all night long or touch any adjust....Just worked on the tires....Scuffed the new ones in the last two rounds of practice....Stuck the older of the two new sets on for qualifying in animal lite and set the pole with a 12.50

Animal med qualifying didn't go as well....Went with the newest set and they just wouldn't stick....He still went a 12.58 but the kart was a handful....Qualified 10th out of 16 in Animal Med.

Animal med money race was first...Started on the outside and got shuffled back on both starts....Kart picked up some speed but the leaders were gone Devin pulled of about half way thru to save motor and tires and get ready for lite....That was a much better race he got a good start but got loose and 2 karts got back by....He stayed close and with in about 5 laps was back by both of them in the lead again.....Jackson Holland made a late race run at him but had motor problems....Devin won by half a track or more.....Fast time was a 12.24

Devin made his first trip to the kart track to race by himself Saturday night.....Pulled the trailer and all.....It was a points night he finished 7th in Stock med. and 2nd in stock lite....Bradley showed up and suprized everybody because it was points night..LOL He won every race he entered.....After the Med race Bradley pulled Devin and Zack Sertain over to his trailer and gave them a talking to about their driving.....He told them both they were over driving and to just let the kart do the work. Bradley pulled his tires off he had kicked ass with and put them on Sertain's kart....He is pretty much Bradley's factory driver....It worked for him he won Stocklite with the fastest lap of the night 12.196 Devin's best lap was good enough for 2nd fastest overall with a 12.293 Devin was at Med weight and on 3 race old tires.....I guess I maybe looking for another driver to crew chief for...LOL Sertain is on the new 2010 chassis but Devin's 08 is still pretty fast. Both of them were faster than any of the Limiteds according to mylaps.com

Crazy day at the track....Devin ran 5th at the second Ga Big Gun State race and that was with a RF caster block completely pulled from the frame at the bottom bolt and the LR wheel was bent badly...He hit the tires on the front stretch and then almost made it thru the pile-up in turn 2 on the restart, he hit one of the karts that had spun and then got hit from the back...But...he somehow made it thru the tangled mess of karts without spinning or coming to a complete stop so he jumped about 4 karts before ever taking the green for a full lap....... That put him 7th....2 karts in front spun on the last lap and he ended up 5th....Kart was fast before it was damaged.

Wheeler Racing (well mostly Devin) shot a DVD at the last Tri-State race of 2008.....Some stuff in the pits and miscellaneous track footage plus all of the Pro classes, and Jr. Sportsman Champ. Those will be the only whole races on the DVD.

Here is a pic from the first Big Gun race of 09.....

It rained but it didn't rain it out....It was nice to see some different faces in victory lane tonight. It wasn't us but we did finish 4th out of 18 in Animal Med and our buddy Taylor Cole finished a strong 5th.....Kevin Young had a good run in Animal Pro taking the checkered flag as did Grayson York in one of the Pro plate classes....All in all the Dawgwood crowd held their own at Checkered Flag.....Look out on March 28th when the series heads to Dawgwood....Let's see if anybody can run with the Dawgwood bunch at their home track....See Ya'll there.
